Welcome Welcome!

Welcome to Home-Ekk

Hello beautiful people! Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to check out my blog. My name is Tamisha Manigo, I am currently a Master’s student with Liberty University, obtaining my degree in Public Health for Health Promotion. I have created this blog to spread the awareness and benefits of Family Planning. Why is that you ask? Well, I have chosen this topic due to observations I have made within my community about needing successful family planning and for my personal knowledge.

The intended audience for this blog are teens and tweens of the United States. More so specifically, the teens and tweens of Virginia Beach. From this blog, public health and healthcare professionals within communities across the United States will aid in preventing and reducing unwarranted pregnancies.

Now let’s get down to the nitty gritty with the program topic of Family Planning. As previously mentioned, the chosen target audience are teens and tweens of the Virginia Beach area. There was not a certain demographic chosen, this is due to the fact that EVERYONE could use some information regarding how to better maintain their family or a way to help those in their community who may need assistance. Family planning has been reported to be the one of the 10 greatest public health achievements, of the 20th century (U.S. HHS, 2016).  With this blog being able to educate, inspire and motivate people, especially the teens and tweens, to actively create better environments for their families, is the goal.

The theme for this blog is: “Don’t be sorry, be Careful”. There are a great amount of negative consequences that can be associated with having a child at an early age. If you are careful and some of those consequences will not affect. Becoming educated is key.

The name of my blog The Wonderful World of Family Planning (WWFP) is intended to aid in the decrease of teenage pregnancy rates in the United States. There are a reported 400,000 teenage pregnancies that occur a year (U.S. HHS, 2016). An agency that would be very supportive and useful to work with on this project is the local Virginia Beach Department of Public Health. This agency would be beneficial and help create for a better outcome due to the vast amount of resources and manpower this agency has regarding the Virginia Beach residents. Also, the department of Virginia Beach Department of Public Health works under guidelines of the federal government which provides for additional resources.

Again, thank you, thank you for taking the time to check me out, I hope you stay tuned for next week’s topic!

Have A Blessed Day!
